Day 2 started with Brian Guenther in the chip lead and through the first couple of levels, that status quo remained. Unfortunately for Guenther, he hit his peak early in the day and could not chip up when it mattered most. Guenther was short for effectively all of the final table but after jumping a few rungs on the pay ladder hit the rail at the hands of Jeremy Halaska.
Halaska opened to 50,000 in the hijack and Guenther shoved for 142,000 from the big blind. Halaska called and was in a pretty good spot with 6♥6♠ against the A♥4♠ of Guenther. The K♠9♠8♣J♣8♥ runout proved uneventful and Halaska collected Guenther’s stack put himself up to 685,000.
With only two eliminations left before tomorrow’s official final table, Bill Reilly and Ben Anolik are the two short stacks with both players under 20 big blinds.
