Former Pittsburgh Panther basketball player Griffin Abel is in today’s 1B field and will look to use  ‘home felt advantage’ to his benefit.

Pittsburgh is a city known for its proud sports history and one of those teams that receives a large share of support is the University of Pittsburgh Panther basketball team. One former Panther who is in the 1B field is Griffin Abel who played from 1998-2001.

Abel played earlier today in the Poker Night in America cash game and already has a final table appearance in the 2016 PPO when he finished 7th in Event 30. The Pittsburgh native already has a strong finish to his name in 2016 as he placed second in the 7-handed tournament at the LA Poker Classic for a $50,000 score.

If he can defend his blinds as well as he once defended the paint, Abel has a chance to run deep in the Poker Night in America Main Event.
