Through the first 15 minutes of this Day 2 session, three players have hit the rail in quick succession. That means we’re on the money bubble in Event 30 but before we just into those updates, let’s recap how we got there through a fast paced start to Level 16.
The first elimination saw Ricky Ali lose a flip in one of the first hands of this Day 2 restart, as his A♦Q♥ couldn’t beat Travis Hartshorn’s 3♣3♠. Ali flopped a straight draw on the J♣10♠8♥ board but after Hartshorn turned a set with the 3♥, Ali had just four outs to stay alive. The river bricked and he hit the rail in 16th place, while Hartshorn increases his chip lead with just under 650,000.
In one of the very next hands, ‘Richie Tenenbaum’ and John Kulp got the latter’s short stack in on a A♣9♠7♥ flop, with Tenenbaum holding top-two and Kulp holding bottom-two. The short stack was more or less drawing dead and after the turn and river bricked out, he hit the rail in 15th place.
Soon after, Jerry Humphrey joined the action on Table 1 after strolling in 15 minutes late but it seemed like perfect timing as he scored a knockout in the first hand he played. That was against Matt Glantz, who held Q♣Q♠ and he was flipping for his tournament life against Humphrey’s A♦K♣.
Humphrey’s flopped an ace and turned another to eliminate Glantz, who falls just two spots short of the money. That leaves this field on the immediate bubble and hand for hand play is about to begin.
