Griffin Abel

Griffin Abel doubled through Efim Kanner earlier in Level 19 but that increase to his stack only got him just over the ten big blind mark. A few hands later, Kanner returned to finish the job once and for all, as Abel and his ten big blind stack was at risk again.

Action was picked up with Kanner opening to 25,000 from early position and after ‘Richie Tenenbaum’ called, Abel three-bet shoved for 135,000. The table folded back around to Kanner, who re-shoved to isolate the short stack and that play worked as Tenenbaum sent his hand into the muck.

Kanner needed to hold, as he held A♠J♠ to Abel’s A10. After the A♣68♣ flop, Abel’s diamonds were no longer in play and he needed a ten to save his tournament life. A ten didn’t come though, as the 5♣ and 8♠ completed the board.

The big stack’s high-card played and Abel hit the rail in 7th place, good for an over $2,500 score. That’s the first elimination at this final table not scored by Travis Hartshorn and they’re now one-two on the Event 30 leaderboard, with Kanner playing just over 800,000.
